Colbrow Healthcare would like to meaningfully contribute to our society and assist those who are in need of support, whether financially or emotionally. This is something that we would like to do, both on a local level and a global level. With this in mind, we have chosen two charitable organisations where we would like to focus our attention.
Locally, we recognise some of the challenges that are being faced within our own nursing community. Nurses work in a very demanding environment where they do not always get the support they need. The Nursing and Midwifery Health Program (NMHP) is an independent body (originally set up through the Victorian Nurses Board) which requires private funding to continue the great work they are doing. NMHP assists nurses who come forward with an alcohol or drug abuse problem or psychological problems by providing confidential help and support without risking their registration, job and career. Our support of this cause will directly assist the people that contribute so much to the success of our organisation.
Globally, we recognise that the opportunities offered to us here in Australia are not offered to most people in the developing world. With this in mind, we have made it our mission to assist those who are less fortunate through helping the Diksha School in India. Diksha School was established in October 2008, providing free care and early education to children coming from underprivileged families around the vicinity of Palam Vihar. Under the program, the children are provided nutritious and healthy midday meals and snacks. The school is a brainchild of a Colbrow employee’s former teacher, Ms. Shanta Sharan, and is a registered charitable trust which continues to work for the growth and progress of the children of the community.
